15. Eligos (Eligor / Abigor) - Goetia Spirit of Strategy, Influence and Hidden Power Dynamics

The fifteenth spirit described in the Ars Goetia is Eligos - a Duke known not just for strength, but for something more precise… calculated.

At first glance, he appears as a warrior.

He manifests as a knight riding a winged demonic horse, holding a lance, a banner, and a serpent. The imagery feels direct, almost aggressive. But that’s only the surface.

Because his real domain isn’t just battle.

It’s strategy.

Who is Eligos?

Eligos, also known as Eligor or Abigor, is said to command 60 legions of spirits.

His rank comes not from brute force, but from his deep understanding of conflict — both open and hidden.

And here’s where it gets interesting.

In older descriptions, “war” doesn’t only mean physical confrontation.

It includes:

negotiations;

competition;

power struggles;

legal disputes;

political positioning;

In other words… any situation where outcomes depend on who thinks ahead.

What Eligos Actually Does

Most texts say he reveals the outcome of battles and the intentions of others.

But in practice, it rarely feels like someone simply tells you the answer.

It’s more subtle.

You start noticing patterns.

Who holds real influence.
Who is pretending.
Where decisions are actually made.

And sometimes… what seemed complicated suddenly becomes obvious.

Strategy Over Force

Eligos doesn’t push situations directly.

He changes how you see them.

And that changes how you act.

People often report:

better timing in decisions;

clearer understanding of others’ motives;

improved positioning in competitive environments;

easier navigation of complex situations;

It’s less about overpowering others.

More about moving correctly.

Beyond War - Law and Power

Interestingly, Eligos is also associated with legal matters.

Not in a symbolic way, but quite directly.

He is said to assist in:

court cases;

disputes;

negotiations involving authority;

situations where the outcome depends on influence and argument;

Which makes sense.

Because legal conflict is just another form of structured battle.

A Practical Observation

People sometimes expect a clear prediction.

A direct answer.

But more often, it happens differently.

You begin to understand the situation better than before.
Decisions become easier.
Certain risks feel obvious… and are avoided.

And over time, this changes the outcome.
