28. Berith - Goetia Spirit of Wealth, Truth and Sacred Agreements

The twenty-eighth spirit described in the Ars Goetia is Berith, also known as Beal, Bofry, Baal-Berith, or Vaalberith - a Duke associated with wealth, social elevation, truth revelation, and binding agreements.

Among Goetic spirits, Berith has one of the more complicated reputations.

Some grimoires describe him as truthful.
Others call him a deceiver.

And strangely enough… both may be correct.

Who is Berith?

Traditional texts describe Berith as appearing as a warrior dressed in red robes, wearing a golden crown, and riding a red horse.

His voice is said to be unusually clear and refined, almost musical.

At first glance, the symbolism feels regal.

Authority.
Power.
Status.

And this reflects the nature of his current extremely well.

Berith is deeply connected with influence, hierarchy, reputation, and the invisible systems that determine who rises… and who does not.

The Nature of His Influence

Most grimoires claim Berith can reveal truths about the past, present, and future.

But there is an important detail often overlooked.

Several occult authors warned that Berith may intentionally provide misleading information.

Not necessarily out of malice.

More as a test.

Some practitioners believe his current forces a person to think independently rather than blindly trusting what they are told.

And because of this, Berith is often associated not only with truth… but with discernment.

Wealth, Status & Opportunity

Berith is also strongly connected with prosperity and social advancement.

Traditional texts claim he can transform metals into gold and elevate a person’s social position.

In modern interpretation, this influence usually manifests more practically:

financial opportunities become visible;

professional recognition increases;

reputation improves;

influential connections appear;

negotiations and agreements become more favorable;

At first, the changes may seem subtle.

Then suddenly people begin treating you differently.

The Lord of Agreements

One of the most interesting aspects of Berith is his connection to contracts, deals, and formal agreements.

Some occult traditions describe him as a kind of infernal notary — a spirit who witnesses and records pacts and obligations.

Because of this, Berith’s current is often associated with:

business agreements;

negotiations;

legal or financial arrangements;

strategic alliances;

promises and obligations;

Not emotional influence.

Structured influence.

A Spirit of Fallen Kings

There are also traditions connecting Berith to ancient regional deities whose cults were destroyed and later demonized.

According to some interpretations, Berith was once a respected protector spirit tied to power and leadership before political and religious conflict transformed his image into something darker.

Whether historically accurate or not, this gives his current a noticeable undertone of pride, memory, and resentment toward betrayal.

And practitioners often notice that disrespect is not tolerated well within this current.

A Practical Observation

People often approach Berith expecting money alone.

But the current rarely works that simply.

Instead, awareness changes first.

You begin recognizing valuable situations faster.
Certain people reveal their intentions more clearly.
Mistakes become easier to avoid.

And over time, opportunities that once seemed hidden begin opening naturally.

When Do People Work With Berith?

In modern practice, Berith is often approached when:

financial opportunities are needed;

business or career decisions require clarity;

hidden truths need to be revealed;

social status or reputation require improvement;

strategic thinking and negotiation are important;

contracts or agreements need protection or guidance;

This current feels intelligent, strategic, and highly aware of power dynamics.

Not chaotic.

But demanding.
