11. Some Subtleties in Summoning the Demons of the Goetia
As I continue to organize the available information on the demons, one thing becomes increasingly obvious: very few sources bring all the necessary details together in one place. Even Crowley, with his generally thorough and almost obsessive approach to such matters, is not entirely free from inaccuracies, omissions, and the occasional loose end.
In this note, I want to share several tables that can make preparation for practical work noticeably easier. The first one, in my view, is the most useful.
It shows the most favorable time for summoning each demon, along with their elemental correspondences and the planetary and metallic associations used for making seals.
Unfortunately, the Zen platform is not really designed for publishing tables properly, so I am attaching them as images.
Perhaps, over time, I will add more.

Symbolically enough, the spirits in the Lemegeton are not listed in a random order at all, although it may seem that way at first glance. They follow a strict sequence, corresponding to the table above.
Beginning with Bael, who corresponds to 0 degrees of Aries, March 21, the text first lists all the day daemons up to Stolas, who corresponds to 29 degrees of Pisces, March 20. Only after that does it move on to the night daemons, in the same order, from Phenex, 0 degrees Aries, March 21, to Andromalius, 29 degrees Pisces, March 20.
It is also worth noting that different sources, for example the Goetia and Johann Weyer’s Pseudomonarchia Daemonum, show both similarities and differences. The general structure is recognizable, but the names, numbering, and sometimes even the forms of the names vary. These differences are shown in the following tables.

Taking the table of dates and zodiacal degrees into account, the first table in this publication, one could say that Weyer introduced a certain amount of confusion into his list. Still, the descriptions he gives in the Pseudomonarchia are certainly worth attention. Sometimes the structure is muddled, yes, but the material itself should not be dismissed too quickly.
As is known, the demons of the Lemegeton, besides having their own hierarchy, also have elemental attributions. Each of these elements has its own ruler.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that when summoning a particular demon, it is generally considered best to use a seal made from the metal corresponding to the rank of the spirit being called. The same principle applies to incense and aromatic substances.

Note
It should be noted that some of the spirits mentioned above possess two titles belonging to different ranks. For example, 45. Vine is both a King and an Earl; 25. Glasya-Labolas is both a President and an Earl, and so on.
The titles “Prince” and “Prelate” also appear to be used more or less interchangeably.
